TIME LAPSE MEMORY

Time lapse memory?   What is THAT?

In color and in black and white they come, images parading, awake or asleep.  "The mile a minute mind" is at work and play, fast yet slow all at one "time.... and place."

Memory comes in with bits and flashes of light and dreams, of daydreams and conversations, on "TV" or online shows.  Sudden inspirations appear as if by magic, without looking for them....an answer to a question may pop up years later "sometimes."  An image from long ago flashes by.

A full motion stream of old newsreels in black and white or color may by steam by swiftly with express train speed.  I very seldom hear words or dialogue to accompany the photo journals.

"All of a sudden" I saw a show (unplanned) based on old photos and newsreels!  Trains in motion, countryside, big cities, families!  What is this?  It was a 2 hour program:  American Experience. I watched it all, all at once.  Near the end (which I almost skipped)  a comment appeared:

+  "The intuitive process of writing, is to absorb everything around you, and that becomes fuel for the process of writing, you draw from places that you don't even know you've drawn from."

That same intuition, for me, also applies to applying paint to canvas, crayons on paper, ink with pen or brush and pencils of all kinds, collages, images, imagination at work and play.  I saw pen picture in my head: Drawing the Curtain.

Many years ago, while driving down a road, I had a conversation.  I heard a song while writing?  What is it?  I asked my friend.  No clue.

A month later, I heard the song again by accident on the "radio" (radio daze), again while driving. "That's it!" I shouted out loud!  So I got the name and recording group:  Pink Floyd, On the Turning Away.  The lyrics stuck with me and still do.

Time Lapse Memory~

I felt more complete now, a piece of a musical puzzle had "come in."

You can see the faint blue butterfly about 1/4 of the way from your view of lower right hand side of the painting/sketch. Fun with color and light.

Time lapse Photography on the Walt Disney Show (early TV) opened my "eyes" as seeds sprouted and grew to plants, flowers, and trees right before me!  Flying Horses flew in Fantasia movie~ I am "there!"

One of my writing coach editors said one day: "You're like a human fax machine, you are at rest, work, or play and and get constant faxes coming in day or night!

"What is a fax machine you ask?"

Music comes in at "any time"  waking day or sleeping night.  "Now" I am listening to Schumann in my head, a piano piece.  Why? Gentle, Quiet. much needed.

Recently I heard Africa, a song by Toto over and over in a memory loop of perfectly replicated full sound and lyrics for self entertainment and a bit of pep.  How?

"Write Now" as I scribble here, I am hearing in my imagination Yo-Yo Ma play a part of Largo from the New World Symphony by Antonin Dvorak.  This piece is very calming for me, and Yo-Yo Ma is, as always, "note perfect."

Bits and Pieces, they come in~ in all forms.  Random and unrelated pieces of uneventful information may gradually or suddenly transform into a (breathe) story or (gasp) painting "magic moments" a bit of cosmic perception, without thought or effort.  Linking bits together helps me to understand myself with increased clarity and charges physical energy to continue on for new adventures, new insights.

* Movie Memory: a study of a freeze frame mind?  The person (viewer) may actually see freeze-framed stills of movement such as a horse jumping a fence.  The mind-memory may actually put these "stills" together into a moving whole motion sequence!  Is that why I like freeze frame so much?

** "Motion Made Visible"

Blues, Greens, Shadows, a touch of Lavender, hints of vibrations and waves of light visible and invisible

First I fast forward on the DVR from slow to fastest speed and "capture" an image. Let's say a Sheltie dog herding sheep. Then I back up to individual freeze frames for concentrated study and reflection.  I see his feet, his alertness, concentration and leg positions.  I note his thick groomed bicolor coat (black and white like some of the older DNA).  I sense his ability to focus on that sheep that wants to bolt from the herd.  I see the Sheltie  halt the sheep's escape, gently and confidently.  I love this dog!  Smile~

I also like to concentrate on charts, formulas, weather maps.  I got through school by repeating images and (rarely) words to myself over and over again until I had memory lock.  Memory is solidified first by pictures and lastly by "lists" or key words gleaned from books (notes in margins of my own books). "Notes" on pads of paper are  coded in shortened words and unintelligible drawings, charts, or scribblings, and are usually completely unorganized.

SAME AS NOW

Years later, I opened some of my Dad's books to FIND!  He had the same way of recording information in his books, the same way of self indexing in the front of the book, and even the symbol of  * "imp." meaning "important...."  I had done the very same thing without ever seeing these books.... What?

*** "Genetic Memory" ?

I am mostly in deep daydream while I am scanning shows.  Sometimes I am asleep and awake at the same "time."

The Mute Button is My Favorite Silent Friend

That way "voices vanish" and I can concentrate deeply on the plays of light and color.  Sometimes I "read" the closed captions....and sometimes I only see the pictures.....but only one focus at a "time" either seeing or reading, but not both at once....

"Time for a break!"

Several Days later, I come back to continue....

TASKS AT HANDS

 All Hands On Deck!

Many Years Ago....

I had a dream.

I painted the dream: Healing Hands

I used outlines of my real hands to shed waves of light into a painting.  Recently, I placed my hands over the outline above and they still fit the image!   The painting is only two colors, Burnt Siena and Cadmium Orange Light.

 Fun and Easy!

Later my husband saw The painting and said, "Do you see the open book?  You are downloading your book!"  I hadn't seen the book at all~ !  I had been randomly writing for "years" in bits and pieces of short stories and experiences, notes and photos tossed into a paper bag!  My "book bag."  Out of the jumbles of words/worlds and scraps of paper gradually became, after 24 years, my first "book."

* Silver Butterfly Create A Vision was coming to life~

Now in 2020-2021...."Hands and tasks are also very important"

"Wash Hands, Always Wash Hands!"

PPE on hands....(double layers) of gloves, small 100 % cotton gloves covered by disposable gloves (non latex).  Plain soaps and plain products, reduced chemicals and fragrance free solutions help dishwashers and washing machines too....lawn work, chemical free, helps people, pets, and plants stay healthy and safe.  Windows and doors open even this winter. Nature walks in the yard all lead to a different perspective in thought and action.  Take a breath of fresh air, light, and color! Full spectrum natural light creates an energetic calm.

One hand wonders:  Use one hand to pick up a pet's bowl, keep the other hand clean to go through doors.  Or, do dishwashing chore then load the washing machine.  After washing hands, (again) with clean hands, return to preparing food or eating breakfast.

Recently I was thinking about hands and motor skills and strong hands and hands of light.  Feathery fine detail may define the painter or broad strokes of brilliant colors, placed at random opens worlds of fun, adventure, and imagination.  I am smiling as I write!  I pick up my brushes, using imagination~ I see all my brushes, large and small.: "Old Friends"

The calligrapher picks up her pen...a message sent of love and joy.  The brush painter loads the brush with ink, ready to create...SNAILS!

Snails Pace
Rewind/Fast Forward all at once:  living in reverse~

How about the musician?  So many emotions are emitted through the hands directly from the heart.

ART AND SOUL

The violinist?  The cello player, the washboard expert, the autoharp, the bagpipe, the mandolin, the sitar, oh so many!  Oh so variable from country to country, from village to village, from mountains to seas.  The drummer strikes a beat, a chant, a dance, a feather touch, a loud gong rings, the alphorn carries sound waves across mountain valleys.

The cigar box guitar!

I watched the hands of the musicians as they played....some hands touched the harp softly, gently, another harp player displayed a strong strum on the harp to convey unlimited unrestricted emotion.  The violinist: one had hands like a spider arched.  I also saw "tarantula" hands on the keyboard of some classic pianists, while other pairs of hands were delicate like mist.  Many pounded the keys as indicated by the music or composer.  Some hands floated over the keys in a hypnotic way, "hand over hand."

The Moog synthesizer (ancient), the keyboard player!  The digital musician and sound engineer! The marimba!  Again the drum!  My favorite (wait for it) The Triangle!

"And the drum beats out of time," Time After Time, sung by Cindi Lauper.

Many musicians close their eyes as they played, "another dimension" of deep feeling and radiance emitting outward, frequencies to heal, sooth, or stimulate.

And then I watched a knitting show.  Hands in Action!  Creativity Rules~ The styles of kitting vary with each expert, fun and energetic, old fashioned charts I still recognize!  New ideas too.  Crochet hooks and knitting needles, color and light, soft clicking sounds greet me. Smile. Spinning yarn by hand with a spindle or spinning wheel, way beyond me!

Hands Across the Worlds

The woodcarver works with sharp concentration for fine detailed wood carving, another expert displays house building and carpenter skills.  A woman in her 80's splitting wood in the mountains is an example for us all!  Working with tooled leather or even making boots, saddles, and tack for horses require design and thought.  Many hands, many skills "All of the Above"

Weather or Not

The Weather Expert pointing to the highs and lows, the winds and sands, the sky phenomenon, stars and planets.  Enthusiastic smiles with sweeping hand gestures have you focused and interested.

Who Could Forget?

The Doctor coming to help, the Nurse comforting, a Dentist with precise skills like a painter, accurate, focused.  Healing Touch Therapy, Acupressure, Acupuncture, EFT, Meditation and more. Gentle physical exercises can help get you started,

Good Food Good Friends

Then, I saw hominy being prepared outdoors in the old fashioned way in deep old iron kettles, stirred with love and a heritage of pride in the food being prepared.  Cornbread cooked in iron skillets, fresh churned butter melting and syrups, real maple syrup. Buckwheat!  Real Buckwheat! Rolling Dough, Mom and Ma making clover leaf rolls.  Ice Cream made at home (really hard to turn that crank).  My Dad helped as we all waited impatiently.

New This Year: Good this Year

More physical  "work" for me and chores galore.  However my Hands and arms and legs became stronger!  Whole body and mind focus became clearer and more flexible, fueled by daily walks around our yard, enjoying, bird songs, flowers, and skies of all colors.  Joint pain and rashes vanished by staying home instead of breathing disinfectants in stores and offices. I couldn't believe the difference!  "Imagine!"

I added an extra hour of sleep/rest  recently!  What a great change~ 9 hours a night, calms the over thinking mind.  I actually wake up refreshed, stretch and get up slowly. Ease into the day, eager for activity.

It is good to be young, twice in a Lifetime~

And then there are the "jars!"  I love jars!  I love working with jars....and I was strong enough this year to carefully pick up a variety of glass mason jars in various sizes and fill them with filtered water every day!  Fresh water in clean glass jars!  Non of that plastic!  Amazing!  Interesting that arranging the jars and filling them reminds me of precision paintings skills,  moving objects in space, nimbly.  Putting the colored coded lids on the jars reminds me of twisting paint tube caps back on the tube.  Variable colored lids tell me when to rotate the jars into their next wash cycle: "All in Order."

Mom's Science Lab, Mom Ain't Here!

All Hands on Keys!

And of course, there is the typewriter, "keyboard" or phone touch/text/ zoom, graphic art, musical concerts  and much more. Look at the hand positions, they are all different, all correct.  I bang away, quick or thoughtful, with only one or two fingers!  YEA!

UP AND RUNNING!

* "I appreciate the beauty and resiliency of nature and strive to strengthen those aspects of myself," Shirley MacLaine

"What does up and running mean?"

Wait for it!

See Spots Run: I am a sprinter~ running a marathon?

**  "I had a dream and then I got real!"
Rick Green, comedian humor and insight

"And I dreamed I was running," Oh, it was so much fun!  I felt every sensation of actually running a distance, a marathon rather than a sprint.  How did this happen?

Dreamscape

A small group of non competitive running friends gathered, let's say 10-15 people of all ages from kids to "Gran on the Run."   Sprinters, joggers, slow or fast paced, Cheetah Speed Walkers, every one at own comfort level.  Some stopped for awhile to enjoy the sun and scene, rest as needed, or practice Stretching, Yoga, or Tai Chi/Qigong.  Free from agenda, time trials, stopwatch,  "Your Run Your Way."

"Honor Your Body"

In the dream:

I felt every footfall and joy of the run, arms and legs pumping comfortablyHow can this be?

Courage

I thought of the wild wolf and horse running free in mountains and plains.  I thought of the stamina of these animals, so strong and mighty.

***  "Watching a horse run without effort is a joy to behold,"  Out of the Blue Post Free As the Wind

The path and terrain varied and expanded as we ran.  The setting was rural, the path/road sometimes winding, sometimes straight, sometimes paved, sometimes not.   It was run on a one lane rural road, no traffic, no houses or farms. Some hills, some dales, some fields, some brush, "somewhere."  The setting could have been in a variety of countries.

The colors and climate were vivid, spring emerging:  soft breezes, hues danced and played in the hazy sun from ochres to dark tall water grasses, some tender spring shoots sprouting, a sprinkle of trees, a scattering of clouds, a bit of red/purple reflecting from rocks, patches of sand and more.

 A Dream Came Alive.

What IS THIS?

After an eternity of running we came to a small sturdy wooden bridge, we sprinted across it and heard the sounds of running shoes striking wood.  Then, ahead if us was a path up a hill~ a substantial hill!

I turned to my running friend and said, "How far IS THIS?"
I felt like I was back in school gym class trying to run around the athletic field (puff, pant), yet I was not tired at all?

We laughed heartily:
"You make me feel like a child again!"

I thought "accept the day as it unfolds!" (really difficult).

The pathless path unfolds one step, one breath at a time.  "Your Path Your Way~"

Then!  I awoke!  I felt wonderful!  Really felt like I had been running  in my dream in a positive and healthy way~ rejuvenated yet peaceful.  My heart was energized and calm, not racing.  A virtual work out~ without Zoom, phone  or other online connections is possible.

THE BLUE-ING

What is "The Blue-ing?"  I have watched it for years.  Inviting cats to watch the blue light meld into the winter landscape is relaxing, a bit of quiet, like a comfort blanket of meditation as the shifting light begins to glow then fade into deep purple darkness.

Lit Up Blue

I chuckled as I recalled my Mom used to add a dark blue cube of solid "blueing" into to the white laundry to add a bit of glow as it melted and rinsed out.  I was fascinated by the color of indigo dye used in those days.  The clothes didn't turn bluish at all but brightened a bit.  My mom loved to iron, calming for her.  The sheets. pillow cases, and "real cotton" white shirts all got ironed with loving care.  Some starch was used on various items like shirt collars.  I liked the smell of starch and fresh clean cotton.

No wonder I never iron!  Paint took over~

Around 3 PM in the winter afternoons, sometimes the light has a yellow cast, depending on the sun-cloud reflection and refractions.  About 4 PM I sense "pink" tints on the snow.  These are mostly on cloudy-bright days.  Of course!  The favorite "blue-lavender" shadows and streaks of tree shadows sometimes appear!  My Favorite~ sun on shadow patterns are here.  Oh so blue~

I love to watch the "red rays" enter too, brightening the "red brown fence" near us and turning a beige house "pink!"  In the distance I see a yellow house "light up" with lemon yellow, cookie cutter pictures clipped from Edward Hopper paintings.  Even better, some early sunset lights appear in bright orange.  Trees  and twigs "light up" with a glistening brilliance of unbelievable orange-gold, just for a few minutes.

Bright orange, pink and silver lining sunsets pop up like firecrackers!  Again, in 5 minutes, you have already missed the display.

Some early lighting events may be forest green, so lush and piney.  And then the blue begins to slowly creep into the semi twilight, ice blue with a tint of green brightens our world.

Curtains of darker blue then purple blue happen quickly.  A feast for the eyes and heart.  Darkness falls and the world seems silent.

Blu-ing also happens in reverse starting at first light.  Different directions of light through windows give various hues.  For example, to the West this AM, the light was lighter blue than to the East?   A great Eastern blend of purple-blue, so quiet and expectant before the pillars of light spike up and brighten the sunrise area soon to appear.

In a recent sunrise, a bright pink pillar of light soon turned into fiery orange with huge purple clouds cradling the rising sun.

* Tiny ice crystals may cause a spike of light.

In the mountains you may see a purple-lavender-pink-orange effect as the sun rises and the visible spectrum enlarges and envelopes your senses.

Beams of natural sunlight warm the mountain painting

** Full Spectrum light is so important to view and enjoy!  Your heart sings!  I have never gotten up for first light (willingly) but now I enjoy it daily along with the fall of twilight.

The evening blue-ing is happening right now outside~ gotta run~

INTEND BETTER

Happy New Year!

 How Are You?

Signing into Out of the Blue....

I feel I am * Running to Stand Still. This title of a U2 song intrigued me as I pulled it out of a tray of music CD's (yes, CD's) of many styles of music.  At random I select..."It's all random."  I give the music a play (repeat track) and found some honesty and comfort there.  I have a table full of scribbled notes, but before I write, to relax a moment, I read an online newsletter:

Just What I Need "Write Now!"

** "I will look at the past with appreciation for the lessons I was provided and look to the future with the intent of understanding how these lessons have helped enlighten me," Shirley MacLaine

And so, the writing begins.  As with painting, I grow with the flow, dancing and playing with words or paintbrushes brings joy into my heart~ my soul self.  I never really know what will write/paint itself, a creative mystery expands.

Enjoy It!  Creative expressions of all kinds open doors and windows into the beyond.  Creativity brings calming to a runaway mile a minute mind, Head's Pace, the runaway, becomes a calmer Headspace.

Focused...Positive

***I read another online newsletter from Dr. Paul Lam, Tai Chi expert.
