WONDERLAND

Winter Wonderland~ not quite snowy here yet....thinking back early fun romping with my gold and white Collie, Laddie.  Powdery white of winter snow and black trunks of trees, sticking up sharply like a real life pen and ink drawings~ come into my memory.

Lad scooped up the snow with his long nose and ran like the wind, bounding with joy, his coat dusted with snowflakes~ He shook them off vigorously.

Here we are, a bit before winter~

EMOTIONAL CHAMELEON

* Back Through the Years I Go Wandering Again," Coat of Many Colors, song by Dolly Parton.

"Back through the endless picture files I GROW, wandering again...."  It's fun to wander around in pictures, through the years and eons of time and timeless....

** EXO~ When I came across the above photo, I thought of XO (blog post Sept. 2020)!  My imaginary EXO planet....emitting rays of lights and mist, in the blue-green frequency....or sometimes in the electric blue-violet spectrum...ever changing, having no fixed 'home" or location in the cosmos, a wandering photonic light and color experience.

XO story was fun to write....several friends wrote to tell me they had "invented" their own EXO Planet/Moon/ Star System. YEA!  Use the powers of imagination.  One person told me that her XO friend would be filled with plants, trees, vines, and lushness of all kinds, a "pathless woods" fun to explore and be called "Serenity,"  a haven to peace for the mind and spirit.

Someone else said that "I choose the moon!"

"Why?"

"Because it is quiet and I can be alone there."

I glanced up at the silver full moon a few days later and chuckled, it looks like the charcoal grey smudge of a profile of a horse's face, nose and forehead pointing to your right as you view. The mane flowing out to the left.  You can tell~ horses are on my mind a lot~

*** One morning I tried some French music by Edith Piaf, La Vie En Rose, just to give a bit of energy.  Surprise, I found myself humming along!  My work went smoother and easier.  Music has a lovely power all its own.  Every tune different...every interpretation expansive.

WINTER GLOW

Standing on the cusp of winter 2020, I thought back a year....back to a brilliant gold sunset sifting through spider webs of leafless trees, a living moment.  Patches of crystal ice droplets touched and glittered on the branches.  Mounds of far away snow appeared in the near distance.

Quickly I grabbed small canvas for an instant pocket painting~ 6" by 6."  Pocket paintings are fun and portable, a take-with event.  The small stretched canvas on wooden stretcher bars meant instant hanging on a wall, a frameless frame. Three simple pure colors and a small chisel brush.  A moment captured in time.  I can even remember the diamond dust of air born crystal ice flakes drifting about in the frigid still air outside.

In moments the light shifted and faded....gratitude for viewing the scene.  Happy to have chased and captured a memory.

How have I changed?  Or Have I?

AUTUMN LIGHT

*  "Everything the light touches....."

Have you ever watched the sunlight shift over your favorite paintings?  The strong vibrant full sun, the soft glows, the backlighting, the subtle colors and shades, wonders yet discovered and every day is "new" because of the ever shifting light.

With weather and colors lighting up in turn, seasonal paintings parade in our living room.  Each painting choice different, each fun and enjoyable.  Paintings emit unique energy all their own!

Clouds and Water, reflections and refractions, trees shimmer and glow, soft detail.  Here the random brush strokes play and frolic, blending, at a distance into a more unified "wholeness" of the scene.

Experimenting with French Impressionism technique is enjoyable and, depending on the lighting, you never know just what colors and shadows may appear.  Every Moment Different

Shadow Shift

Looking at the Abbey, I feel the blues "lighting up."  Until I saw the subtle light effects, I had forgotten just how many blue touches had entered the rocky sculptured look of brushstrokes and textures, of sky and sea.

Now I am spending more time with nature this year, observing clouds, plants, trees and light first hand, I feel more connected, more relaxed.  Daily "nature breaks" reset my mental computer and help body strength as well.  Feeling the breeze and touching leaves brings the heart mind into a unity of peace and reflection.

STOPWATCH AND LISTEN

Breezing through a stream of pictures lately I heard the words, or what I thought were the spoken words, "Stopwatch and listen...."  I saw an image of a stopwatch in my imagination.  A trainer timed a sprinting horse on a practice track:  flashback The Black Stallion (movie).

Only later, I recalled OH, what was said/meant was three separate words: "Stop, Watch, and Listen...."

* "....You're talking to me, I can't hear what you said..." Lyrics from Time After Time by Cindi Lauper

Words, for me, are the last form of communication I pick up. It's pictures first~

Then I took a music break and tuned in to Cindi Lauper singing her song Time After Time and playing the dulcimer.  Backed by violin, piano, and guitar accompaniment, softly they played, and not all performing at the same "time," relaxation is "hear."  A total experience, a showcase of sounds, yet not competing with each other.  As the song unraveled, I read the closed captions!  I seldom hear words or lyrics to songs, rather concentrating on melody lines and frequencies of the vocals and instruments.  Was I surprised?

Lyrics spoke directly to "Me!"  I sat up straight.

*....Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new...."

* "Suitcase of memories, Time After Time...."

* "Sometimes you picture me, I'm walking' too far ahead....You say 'go slow,' but I fall behind.  And the second hand unwinds."

 I get it!

"If you're lost, you can look, and you will find me, Time After Time...."

"....Watching through windows, you're wondering if I'm OK...."

"....Secrets stolen from deep inside, and the drum beats out of time...."

".....I got a suitcase of memories, I almost left behind...."

"TIME AFTER TIME"

It is interesting, in a shift of time and experiences, you can feel the meanings of songs changing and melding into outreaching vistas you never even imagined.

CHANGE OF FOCUS

* Poem Contributed by Isabel Jackson

Change of Focus

Full moon on the cusp of September

rises behind cloud wisps.

All day the feathers of mackerel sky

(never long wet, never long dry)

dominate the cloud scape.

Late summer, the fireflies have gone

but crickets with their rhythmic chirping

make up the evening soundscape

as night comes on sooner and sooner.

Summer clothes, passe, at least on some days

as we log hot-weather memories away,

a little sad that summer is soon past

We shift our focus to soon-coming autumn.

What is your change of focus as the seasons meld together?

Yesterday we gazed up to see the patchy orange and green trees.  Around noon the half moon was still out in daytime!  We stared in wonder as the sun, now to the south, made a bright white glow on the moon's left side.  On the right side of the half moon, a "blue" horizontal line emerged veiled in very thin clouds~

XO!

  XO?  What does it mean?

When I was a child my Mom and I played XO writing skills, up and down, cross ways, sideways, backwards.  I wrote everything backwards, even my name.  I see that XO backwards is OX!  That too.

Sometimes I saw X's and other designs painted on barns, cross beams on barn or stall doors might have an "X" shape.

Then there is X the Owl and O the Owl, characters on * Mr. Roger's Show Neighborhood show and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (cartoon) on PBS TV.

Cat Silhouette:  "owl ears"?

One time I got a letter,XOXOXO it said at the end...."Love" symbols my Mom added.

**And then, there are EXO planets~ ! Space Junk, Dark Matter, Vibrations, Frequencies too many to mention, Space Dust, Asteroids, the list is endless.  Photons, particles/waves of light! Interference patterns and florescence~ You gotta love it~  Colors Unlimited!

Let's Get "Sirius" here~ and have some fun.

If you created an EXO planet custom made for you, what would yours be? Your "planet home?" or a base for wandering adventures? Who would be with you? If anyone?

I would wander the cosmos, no home base, at random, and at various speeds.  If I had an EXO planet (like a cosmic art studio) the ethereal light would be various shades of blues from cobalt to cerulean, from phthalo blue, to French Ultramarine, with threads of silver mix....and  bits of lapis lazuli~ particles.  XO's The Name!

NO-THING- NESS

No-Thing-Ness?  What does this mean?  If anything~

* Years ago I drew a card from a deck along with friends also drawing cards at random.  Twice I "picked" No-Thing-Ness.  Who could ask for anything more?  Or Less?

Nothingness:
a meditative state where the mind is clear and at rest and may receive images, dreams, or pictures, stories, poems, inspirations or "nothing at all~ " All are Correct.

** "Nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever should...."

A cosmic cosmos?

No-THING-ness?
A state of being.  How can I achieve it?  If ever?
Things: Stuff, Data, Shells, Rocks, Crystals...Paintings, Drawings, Yarn and Sweaters, It's all random....Notes on paper, "Take Note"

"My Stuff My Way!" I shout to myself~

The Schedule of No Schedule~

The Time of no Time~

"Days and Nights Meld Together....."

*** "Turn around and say good morning to the night.... they know not if it's dark outside or light...."

Between Dark and Dawn....

It feels like Sunday?  But it is Monday?  A haze of days....

I "realized" gradually and recently that my "life" had shifted into a different way of thinking....a more scheduled and left brain type of planned increased activities.  Wonderful for physical exercise!  My hands, arms, legs and feet got stronger!  I had ability to stay awake all day instead of bailing out for a two hour nap in the late afternoon.  How did this happen?

And then....I acknowledged slowly that my creative and connective life had all but vanished....Why?  I no longer felt like calling a friend or being on the internet.  The minutes I grabbed at night, sometimes late at night, provided very little "inspirational or creative energy" to even write a fun blog post....The "easy part" of my life, the visions and dreams and paintings and writings of my right brain had shifted....to the left.
Scheduled "details" and seemingly endless tasks replaced "fun and easy."

I remembered "school" and "jobs."  I recall the fun moments but also the extreme weary feeling I felt:  then and now.

Emotional Fatigue

Bricks and Mortar

Mum's Machine Shop Mum Ain't Here!
Remember, I do easy work....laundry and dishes.  I love being at home "the great indoors"....an expert in precision and timing..."timed machines...." Purring right along at a "Schedule," all in order.

So, I sat down to relax with "easy watching TV."  I picked up Woodsongs + coming in from Lexington KY.  Loved daydreaming through it and noting the quality of talents, ancient instruments, expert musicians AND near the end of the show, host Michael Johnathon, director, producer, and musician mentioned the "artist" in changing times.  He refers mostly to musicians but I pricked up my ears and came into concentration.  Michael's comments apply to all kinds of artists, in all fields.  Such as the artists' ability to rapidly switch from left brain to right brain activity in ever changing and unplanned times "and keeping your creative side prominent."

How? I silently asked

Bits from the interview with "Bill" from Bill and the Belles, "retro strings" group and Michael Johnathon.

Bill: A big challenge...."is... to take time for my creative side.  Find that balance...."

"The Just Right," I thought silently.

Michael: Switching [rapidly from right to left brain] "is like having two full time jobs at once."
Your creative side and presenting side are "all consuming" both sides "actually competing for that energy."

"That's Exactly It!" I shouted silently to to myself~ I am not switching "at all" between tedious routine tasks to easy creative work and play.  My fun side, made of light and color, had vanished into No-Thing-Ness.

"I Get It!" The repetitive detail work is "taking out" a lot of my creative energy and outreach.  So, I basically shut down most of my "extra" creative enjoyment to get the physical energy I need to do the increased tasks at hand in changing times known as "The Daily Inbox."

Little Jars All in a Row....

What a great insight Woodsongs show provided!
And so "tonight" I set aside some "Time" to write, enjoy, reset, and reconnect with my creative inner artist, writer, painter, and photographer.

"The easiest timeless zone I know...." so far

Bit Reading:  Every night at bedtime I set aside 1-3 minutes to open a book at random and read one positive sentence or a short paragraph.
Last night I read:

I'll figure this out as I grow.

COLORS IN A CUP

Years ago I wrote a post about a dream I had: Pour Yourself a Cup of Colors....later I saw the cup of colors in my living room and quickly snapped the shot!  A living vision came to life.

In the dream I was sitting in in an outdoor sunny setting on a high balcony at a white circular metal table.  A figure in a long white filmy dress appeared in the dream.  She was sunny and smiling.  She brought with her a blue and white teapot and there were two blue and white teacups for us on the table.  The angel figure poured tea into the cups.  Instead of tea, rainbows of color and light poured into the cups!  Joy!   Smiles!
