A May Time Villanelle

After Six Months of Grey

This week in May my world is turning green
Blossoming fruit trees are lush with flowers
After six months of grey, bright colors seen

In every yard color bursts on the scene
Delicate trout lilies bloom for just hours
This week in May my world is turning green

Baby-hand leaves on white ash trees glow green
For three short days the magnolia will flower
After six months of grey, bright colors seen

Japonica crowned with red for a queen
April and May bring unending showers
This week in May my world is turning green

Starkly white dogwood appear on the scene
To the peak of a house a lilac towers
After six months of grey, colors are seen

Ornamental plum, cranberry-red sheen
Azaleas will challenge the artist's powers
This week in May my world is turning green
After six months of grey, bright colors seen

Reflection:  The spring green returned and now summer's lush growth is here.  Colorful birds chirp and fly.  Enjoying Isabel's poem brings bright images and memories of spring's rebirth.
