NEEDLES AND PINS

 Fun with Eyelash Yarn!

After a twenty year "Om" My God" vacation from knitting, I picked up needles and yarn again.  Light years ago, before I learned to knit, I loved seeing the yarn basket and multicolored needles.  I loved squeezing the yarn and noted soft and harsh textures.  I loved the oh so kitten soft ball of white angora. I loved helping my mom wind yarn into balls.  Thankfully pull out skeins came along!  I remembered asking my mother, "What are Knitting Pins?"

"That's another name for knitting needles."

I began to learn to knit, a lifetime journey of joy and discovery.  I actually sat still while I was concentrating!  After I learned the basic cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, I found knitting calming and creative.

Knitting Right Along~

Reversible Cable Scarf

For my first "new" project, I tried a classic reversible cable scarf.  I had done cables years ago, but this one reversed!   What A Concept!  Best yet it was easy so I could stitch along and enjoy TV or music at the same time.  I felt my left and right brain functions coordinate in wonder and harmony.

Addicted to Yarn
Recently I began experimenting with specialty yarns in addition to classic sport, worsted, and and wool blends for sweaters and hats.  What Fun!  A candy store assortment of new products and techniques of all kinds welcome me~

Some yarns contain sequins, shiny ribbon, or light weight metallic blends.  Other yarns create stripes as you knit, no need to change colors  Patterns of colors, sharp and muted, create themselves!  Organic cotton yarns are available with natural dyes. Quick project yarns are big and chunky.  You can learn to knit without needles!  Not sure how much yarn you have for a sweater or vest?  Knit from the top down.  The finished length is when you run out of yarn!  The knitting revolution/evolution is an explosion of creative inspiration.
