CATaclysm
Cats Galore! You Said It!
Epiphany
On Jan 6 in the middle of a subzero blizzard, we received an unexpected Epiphany Gift.
Rewind:
Many years ago, I painted a pastel painting of a very dark head and shoulders of a black and tan Shetland Sheepdog, just for practice and fun. I just made him up! I sold him in an art show. His memory still lingers. The painting actually crossed though my vision field recently....Why?
During the winter holidays I picked up James Herriot's story of The Christmas Day Kitten. I didn't read the story, but I opened the book to expose the painting of a dark stray tabby kitten entering her warm kitchen "home" on a farm.
Then I found a large kitten photo on a calender, mostly black tossed with tan in streaks and swirls. I cut the kitten photo out and posted it on our refrigerator. I had never seen markings like that.
Epiphany Kitten
And then a plaintiff call came....a screeching searching plea for help from our back patio door. OH NO. Orange, the cat, and I ran to see what was there. A frozen kitten, shaking and crying on the snow blocked steps. Orange and I looked at each other in quiet desperation. It seemed about three months old. When the kitten moved into the grey light, I saw it stretched out a bit. "It's older than 3 months, " I thought. The long haired insulated coat saved its life in the winter blast. HELP~
It took some time to coax the kitty into our home. When we took it food, it ran away. Next it cried near the basement window well. All three of us humans stood there and spoke to it. * Try saying "Row" (rhymes with "now"), meaning "food" in Cat Speak. We all "rowed" at the kitten.
We came upstairs to fetch a bowl of food. And the kitten was there at the back door already! "The Power of Row!"
Meanwhile, cats began waking up from their naps and sat in a silent semi circle to welcome the newcomer. We got our largest cat carrier and put a bowl of food in it. Carefully opening the door, we gently beckoned the kitten into the warm kitchen and the safety of the cat carrier so it could rest and eat. None of our cats hissed at the stranger. "They already know him."
Ruff Arrives
Now What?
We got a large dog "cage" and transferred the kitten into it. He was safe and snug in the kitchen and welcomed warmth and food. On the second day, he was free of his cage. He still went in it to rest and climbed up the wires so he could sit on the top, a high perch.
Fast Forward
"It's a Boy" The Vet added that the kitten had targeted our home in advance in case of need be in the harsh winter. He's about 6 months old and weighs only 4.7 pounds. We think he's been living outside, hunting mice and insects for some time, and then the white out subzero wind and snow came....He knew where to come for help!
I I talked with Judy, Phoebe's owner. Phoebe is a white Norwegian Forest Cat. I bought a long haired cat brush, the kind Judy suggested. Ruff has many features of the Norwegian Forest Cat. His face and body are different from the Maine Coon breed. Brushing him is like brushing my two Collies. He purrs applause and closes eyes in enjoyment. I thought about my dogs and how I miss them.
Orange On the Alert
Foster Parent
Orange, our young male, adopted Ruff! How can this be? Orange took to washing the fury kitten, head to toe. He even helps Ruff take small strings of oak pollen and little plant seeds out of his coat. Orange "combs" Ruff with his teeth. Ruff also combs out his long coat by himself and with the help of the cat brush from his human parents. Orange also teaches the kitten martial art self defense skills in a gentel way. Does the Orange-Ruff bond of parent figure and kitten have to do with their young ages or common backgrounds of being abandoned and living on their own for a period of time?
Ruff is very talkative and "speaks" in complex sentences. He talks to himself and sometimes mutters to himself, indoors and out. Some of his sounds are trilled, like bird calls. Ruff has the waterproof double coat of the Collies and Shelties. Like the dogs I know and love, he sheds out in warmer weather, "Molt Down."
Window of Opportunity
Ruff smiles a Wise One's smile.
"He looks like Confucius"
"Maybe he Is!"

OUT OF SINK
Out of Sync? You Said It!
I certainly have been putting off (avoiding) writing about this experience....Here Goes~
Some months ago I turned on the kitchen sink, but then I could not turn it off! I had a sinking feeling. What?
I am having an out of sink experience!
Wait a minute! I can feel the sink with my hands, I am touching it....what's happening?
Am I on the Earth? Am I between Heaven and Earth? I do not feel dizzy, I do not feel nausea. There are no colors like red and green coming into my eyes. No chills, No fever.
I looked at my hands, they were transparent! I looked at the sink, it was translucent! Think Back to the Future Movie when some objects and photos erased themselves from view..
Am I being erased?
I seemed to be able to think. Think heart attack? Think stroke? Think ER? Think Out of this World! I heard a feeling "Remain Calm."
On the way out of the kitchen, I had a light switch event....I touched the switch, I felt the switch firmly on my index finger. Again my hands and the light switch were transparent. The light switch did not turn off. Help!
I felt like slow motion and mired in quick sand. I had a sinking feeling.
I glanced up at the ceiling and saw:
Orb or disk shapes in greys and muted pastels. "Arriving soon, they're coming for me," I laughed out loud. Think Humor.
I wobbled into another room to ask my husband for help. He turned off the kitchen sink. Pretty soon I was helped into bed.
My husband took my pulse, "I can't find it." No surprises there....
I had some warm water and kefir (like liquid yogurt) spooned into me.
* Liquids of Life~
Coconut Water, pure and unsweetened
Green Drink, no sugar added, plenty of nutrients with a touch of lemon and lime
Coconut Oil, essential short chain fatty acids
Dark Unsweetened Chocolate, semi melted, 1/2 oz a day
I consulted my Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine to see what medical treatment or tests needed from my M.D. She advised no treatments needed this time, but gave me some stress relieving physical exercises to practice at home to stimulate and relax liver, gall bladder, stomach and solar plexus area "every day."
Time Out
It took me a long time to recover physically. It took me a long time to recover emotionally. Was I being "re-wired"? I took plenty of time to reboot body and reset mental computer with no agenda of "time" in sight. I felt like a newborn foal learning how to walk for the first time.
"You are experiencing another dimension," a friend commented. Others said, "You are having an out of body experience."
My son Rob said, " It's Paranormalesque."
I will never be the same.....

NEEDLES AND PINS
Fun with Eyelash Yarn!
After a twenty year "Om" My God" vacation from knitting, I picked up needles and yarn again. Light years ago, before I learned to knit, I loved seeing the yarn basket and multicolored needles. I loved squeezing the yarn and noted soft and harsh textures. I loved the oh so kitten soft ball of white angora. I loved helping my mom wind yarn into balls. Thankfully pull out skeins came along! I remembered asking my mother, "What are Knitting Pins?"
"That's another name for knitting needles."
I began to learn to knit, a lifetime journey of joy and discovery. I actually sat still while I was concentrating! After I learned the basic cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, I found knitting calming and creative.
Knitting Right Along~
Reversible Cable Scarf
For my first "new" project, I tried a classic reversible cable scarf. I had done cables years ago, but this one reversed! What A Concept! Best yet it was easy so I could stitch along and enjoy TV or music at the same time. I felt my left and right brain functions coordinate in wonder and harmony.
Addicted to Yarn
Recently I began experimenting with specialty yarns in addition to classic sport, worsted, and and wool blends for sweaters and hats. What Fun! A candy store assortment of new products and techniques of all kinds welcome me~
Some yarns contain sequins, shiny ribbon, or light weight metallic blends. Other yarns create stripes as you knit, no need to change colors Patterns of colors, sharp and muted, create themselves! Organic cotton yarns are available with natural dyes. Quick project yarns are big and chunky. You can learn to knit without needles! Not sure how much yarn you have for a sweater or vest? Knit from the top down. The finished length is when you run out of yarn! The knitting revolution/evolution is an explosion of creative inspiration.

SIMULTANEOUS REALITY
St. Michael, The Archangel
Recently I placed my impressionistic painting of St. Michael in our "living" room. Energy radiates outward and inward. I signed the picture in all four directions and enjoy turning it around "as needed" for a different view.
Jiong Gu, "I keep it simple." I hear my Tai Chi teacher's voice.
Sitting down to write today (yes please and thank you) I want something "easy!" A bit of moving wake up centering exercise combo of Tai Chi and Yoga set the stage. Meditation is in place with toning, at barely audible volume. Plenty of fresh water and some simple food is here. Loose and comfortable clothing, sunlight, breathing fresh air. *Purrfect~
What will happen? All of my blog drafts, words (worlds) forming on a launching pad, are way too complex for me "today."
What will I write? I open a page of **Silver Butterfly and read scattered words.
I began to plan the painting.
Just two days ago, I had a waking vision while watching TV. I closed my eyes for a minute and saw an impressionist beach image forming very simple...very paintable.
The image settled comfortably and stayed with me. I made a pencil sketch of the memory.
Setting the Stage
Excitement mounted as the future adventure approached.
On my way to blogging this morning, I saw a picture on ***Debra Basham's Blog, an Inner Child Card called 8 of Swords. I stopped short~I had seen that image in a sleeping dream just a few days ago. My mind swirled. I showed the picture to my husband. He saw the same image recently..."somewhere on the Internet!"
Early Spring Melted into May
Allegheny Service Berry and Pink Redbud
This morning I looked out at the mauve redbud tree sparkling alone in the sun. The little white flowered tree pictured comes from the Allegheny Mountains. She blooms in spring and flames with brilliance in the autumn. Last year our little white Allegheny tree toppled in a wind storm.
We miss you but you are still here....
Simultaneous Reality
Spontaneous Writing
Get comfortable, breathe and focus. Set a timer for 10 minutes, or even five depending on your "timing." Write like crazy without thinking at all! Thinking short circuits the free flow of energy. Freedom from thought, grammar, spelling, sentences, logic, "see" what appears.
