How have I streamlined this year? Some progress, some fast forward and rewind all at once.... Experimental: something new, small pocket paintings, new techniques, more spontaneous writing, fun and freedom, and observing ever changing light.
I put on writing music: light yet edgy. I choose Pancho and Lefty sung by Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. I turn it up....as I write, I reduce the volume to very low, and then, gradually the music will disappear, words vanish first.
Someone asked me once, "What are your main areas of focus?"
"I am a number and word person."
I am exactly opposite!
First: Pictures, images, photos, freeze frames or stills, or streams (slideshows) of pictures, art work, paintings, stonework and architecture, nature scenes. Hands Down~ First Place, pictures, dreaming or awake.
Second: Auditory Music, melody or theme based, sometimes samples or bits (loops) of songs or fragments from various types of music. Lyrics are secondary, if they are there at all. Music plays through my head nearly all the time.
I live through pictures and music, "the great escape" into the creative world. I always write and paint with music by my side, creative waves of calming and focus, inner inspirations.
* "And sank into your dreams...."
Back to the song of the day, Pancho and Lefty.
* "His Horse Was Fast as Polished Steel...."
In the early days of TV (real early) I watched The Cisco Kid, The Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, and Gene Autry. I love horses and was starting to draw and paint them. I ignored the plots and dialogue (I still do). I concentrated on only the horses! How grand the horses were, and smart too: Silver and Scout, Diabolo, Champion, and Trigger with Buttermilk. Dogs on parade like Lassie the Collie, and German Shepherds Rin Tin Tin and Bullet sharpened my focus as I sketched away.
TV or Not TV, my how you have changed.
Radio also took me out of my everyday world. Before I went to school, I'd make up picture movies in my head telling stories to accompany my favorite songs.
The World has Become "Sooner than Now."
* "But that's the way it goes..."

GRASS FORMING SEEDS
Watching grass fronds twisting and turning in the wind are like so many dancing wands.
"Almost Autumn" again....
and again
Going Within
Seeds of inspiration now forming: the wood aster flowers are going to seed~
Have you lately?
sang
danced
painted
scribbled
turned off all devices
listened to birdsong
Read more, see more, feel more, be more?
Why?
Push to Achieve: Hyperproductivity is everywhere....
Help!
"Hurry Up and Slow Down"
Press "play/pause" on your life if only for a few moments. How?
Carve Out bits of "time." How?
Enjoy * "Moments of Nothingness" and Self Connection How?
Yesterday I tried some of these techniques....they actually worked! "Imagine~"
Unhurried times of simple creativity are bringing back joy, even a few minutes! For example:
Turning off the TV in the evening after 8 PM helped a lot!
One evening I painted eyes of a kitten portrait, a few minutes of high concentration and detail.
The same evening on a pre-painted canvas showing blue background and wispy clouds, I followed up with a bit of free form mountains. I cut the mountain shapes into the sea of blue and clouds with palette knives! What Fun! I felt like a woodcarver! Fortunately I had saved my ancient tools from college art classes. All this with leftover paint from the kitten session..."1 hour" total.
Last night I enjoyed a bit of creative reading, some short bits "I" wanted to read.
"10 minutes"
"Tonight" I am reliving these moments of creative joy by writing! "30 minutes"
Time to quit for this evening, and still enjoy some music and relaxation then restful sleep.
Another evening: splicing pictures into blog and proofreading: 20 minutes
Push "Publish!" "1 second~"
* "Savor an Experience"
